Melissa Cox founded The Shape Project in 2010 while working as a P.E. teacher for Edmond schools. It began as a free workout for educators once the school day was over in an attempt to not only influence her students, but her peers. During that time, her passion for motivating and educating women on the importance of strength training and adopting a healthier lifestyle cultivated and grew. Boot camps became an outlet for this passion and began with just a few campers meeting in a park. Today, The Shape Project meets in several metro locations and serves over 100 campers each month. Look for our expansion to the rest of the nation!
Melissa is also working on her PhD from Oklahoma State University in Health and Human Performance and teaches in the Kinesiology Department at the University of Central Oklahoma.
She sees The Shape Project as just being in its ground level and is diligently working at reaching more Oklahomans through Fitness Retreats, running clubs, and so much more.
